A Tribute To Kona Cafe’s Breakfast

Walt Disney World is no stranger to offering some amazing breakfasts, but there is one particular spot that’s the absolute best — Polynesian’s Kona Café.

The restaurant (which also serves lunch and dinner) is located on the upper level of the resort’s lobby. It’s pretty popular and is also right next to ‘Ohana, a character dining experience, featuring Lilo and Stitch, amongst other favorite characters.

What makes Kona Café so special is its themed-meals and beverages. A lot of people make reservations here for the famous Tonga Toast, but that’s not why I go. I show up for the pancakes, the butter (it is the best around!), the coffee, and the juice.

First, let me begin with the coffee. If you consider yourself a coffee connoisseur, like myself, you need to head over to Kona immediately and order the freshly brewed press pot of Joffrey’s Hawaiian Kona. The pot serves two, so plan accordingly.

It’s smooth. It’s strong. It will wake you up and give you a boost of energy. It’s exactly what anyone needs on a Disney morning.

In addition to coffee, I also prefer a glass of juice with my breakfast. At Kona, the Liliko’i Juice is heaven in a glass. It’s an orange, passion fruit, and guava blend. It’s sweet, refreshing, and will satisfy your taste buds in all the right ways.

Finally, my breakfast of choice: the Macadamia Nut Pancakes. There are no other pancakes like these fluffy pieces of goodness. They definitely don’t skimp on the macadamia nuts. The pancakes are also topped with a pineapple sauce, which adds even more flavor to the already flavorful pancakes.

Of course, you can top the cakes with syrup, but, before you do that, you must slather them with the macadamia nut butter. As you can tell by the photo below, I can’t get enough of the buttery spread.

Not only is it nice and thick, but it is seriously the best butter that I’ve ever had. The buttery taste is brought to a whole new level thanks to the macadamia nuttiness. There really are no words to describe how amazing this butter is, so just make sure you try it. You won’t regret it.

The Macadamia Nut Pancakes also come with a choice of either ham, spiced ham, bacon, or sausage. Like me, if you don’t eat meat, you can substitute a side of fruit. To be honest, you don’t get that much fruit. It’s a pretty small dish. Though, I’m too busy salivating over my pancakes, juice, and coffee to even notice.

Kona has many other breakfast selections, too. There are egg options, french toast, omelets, and hearty platters. If you’re looking to start your day off the right way or just feel like splurging, you can even get individual glasses or flights of mimosas and Bloody Mary’s. I’ve yet to try either of these, but they sure look tasty!

Next time you’re at Disney World, be sure to make a reservation at Kona Café. It’s the perfect way to say “Aloha!” to the beginning of your magical day.
