Here is news for the week of Aug. 13-Aug. 19, 2018:
1. Ziploc Bags Have Been Delayed
According to Blog Mickey, at this time, Splash Mountain’s newest sponsor, Ziploc, won’t be distributing bags for guests to put their valuables in when riding the beloved mountain. Originally, themed-bags were to be handed out to riders on a first come, first serve basis beginning Aug. 1. However, Blog Mickey reports the dispersion of bags will be “delayed until an unknown later date.”
2. The “Digital Key” Is Almost Everywhere
One of Disney World’s latest technological features is making its way around each resort. As reported by WDW News Today, the Digital Key is now available for guests staying at Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter resorts, in addition to Disney’s Pop Century and Art of Animation resorts. For those unaware, the Digital Key is available on the My Disney Experience app and uses Bluetooth technology to unlock resort rooms.
3. You Can Mobile Order At Caribbean Beach Resort
On Aug. 16, Disney Food Blog reported Caribbean Beach Resort now has mobile ordering available at Spyglass Grill, a walk-up window located by the pool in the Trinidad South section of the Disney World resort. The option offered through the My Disney Experience app is available for anyone wanting to order breakfast, lunch, or dinner ahead of time or for those who don’t want to wait in line.
4. A FastPass+ Update On The Disney Website
As reported by Chip and Co., there’s been quite the update to FastPass+ on the Disney World website. A few months ago, the My Disney Experience app disabled the transferring of FastPass+ options between family and friends on your account. Now, it is the same way on the actual website. This means park visitors can no longer move FastPass+ reservations between those in their group, but can only add more people, or cancel plans altogether. This appears to be Disney’s way of preventing fraud from happening with the FastPass+ system.
5. New Dining At Disney’s Caribbean Beach
Did you hear about the new dining location coming to the Caribbean Beach Resort? As revealed by Disney on Aug. 15, Sebastian’s Bistro (yes, the Sebastian from The Little Mermaid) will replace Shutters as a new table-service restaurant along the Old Port Royale waterfront. According to the Disney Parks Blog, the dining location will offer Latin and Caribbean flavors.
And some older news…
- At the 2018 Epcot Food and Wine Festival, 32 musical performances will be part of the Eat to the Beat concert series. Nine new acts were recently announced to the festival, including MercyMe, Sheila E, Vertical Horizon, Jim Belushi & The Sacred Hearts, Glass Tiger, Tauren Wells, Anderson East, High Valley, and 98 Degrees.
That’s it for Disney news from this past week. I’ll continue to collect park updates, so be sure to keep your eyes open for my weekly news post!
