1. A Bug’s Land Is Officially Closed
On Sept. 4, Disney’s California Adventure’s A Bug’s Land officially closed after 16 years. It first opened in 2002 and was inspired by the 1998 Pixar film A Bug’s Life. A Bug’s Land closed to make room for the upcoming Marvel-themed land, which is said to open sometime in 2020.
2. Breakfast Might Finally Be Coming To The Plaza Restaurant
According to WDW News Today, The Plaza Restaurant at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is reportedly set to begin offering breakfast beginning in November. Per the website, breakfast options will include Mickey Waffles, a Plaza Breakfast Bounty Platter, Lobster Benedict, and a Create Your Own Omelet feature.
3. Disney Design-A-Tee Has A Closing Date
Did you ever design a Disney-themed T-shirt at Disney Springs, aka Downton Disney? Well, WDW News Today reported that Disney Design-A-Tee will no longer be open for business starting Sept. 9. The closing of this store was first announced in March.
4. Coronado Springs’ Pepper Market May Have A New Name
As reported by WDWInfo.com, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort’s Pepper Market appears to have changed its name to “El Mercado del Coronado.” If you take a look at the My Disney Experience app, a photo of what guests know as Pepper Market is now listed with the new name. Disney hasn’t officially confirmed the name change.
5. Paint Your Own Wine Glass At AbracadaBar
In an exciting new activity inspired by Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, Attractions Magazine reports that AbracadaBar at Disney’s BoardWalk is offering wine glass painting sessions every Thursday (1-3 p.m.) for the month of September. Those interested can pre-register for the event, which includes a drink, snacks, and two wine glasses to paint.
6. Minnie Van Rates Are Possibly Changing
Disney World’s Minnie Van transportation service has been a huge hit and, according to WDW News Today, a new pricing system is being put in place. Apparently, starting on Sept. 10, the current $25 flat fee will be replaced with a $15 base price plus a per mile charge.
7. More Disney After Hours Are Here
In some exciting news, more Disney After Hours (Dec. 3, 2018 to March 7, 2019) have been announced for Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. This is a special ticketed event, which allows guests to enjoy more than 25 attractions and experiences after Magic Kingdom closes for the evening. You can check out the new date and times here.
8. V.I.PASSHOLDER Support System
According to WDW News Today, V.I.PASSHOLDER Support system is a new service being offered specifically to Disney World Annual Passholders. The service features a phone line (407-939-7277; seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.), an online chat, and email support for Passholders seeking information and advice.
9. Pizza al Taglio Is Open
After much anticipation, Pizza al Taglio is finally open. This is the pizza window located next to Via Napoli at Epcot’s Italy Pavilion. You can purchase pizza by the slice here. According to Disney Food Blog, the pizza is “square, thicker-crust” compared to the pizza served inside at Via Napoli. The window also serves beer, wine, and cocktails.
