2019 Free Disney World Dining Announced & Other Disney News This Week

Every week I gather the latest news from Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort, and other Disney parks to help you keep up with all of the changes. Here is the most recent Disney news for the week of Dec. 31, 2018-Jan. 6, 2019:

1. Free Walt Disney World Dining

Before it’s too late, you probably want to take advantage of Disney World’s newest Free Dine Offer available for booking now, but you must do the following: “Book a non-discounted five-night/six-day Walt Disney Travel Co. package that includes a room at a select Disney Resort Hotel and a ticket with a Park Hopper Option or Park Hopper Plus Option through Feb. 10, 2019, for arrivals most nights from July 5 to Sept. 30, 2019.” Click here for all of the details.

2. A Special  Ticket Deal For Florida Residents

If you live in Florida, you can now purchase a 3-Day Discover Disney Ticket for only $175 (plus tax). This offer is only available for a limited time (purchase from Jan. 3-June 27, 2019) and is valid for admission (use from Jan. 3-June 30, 2019) to one Disney World theme park per day. Also, there aren’t blockout dates. You can also add a fourth day for only $20 (plus tax). Click here for more information.

3. Go #HigherFurtherFaster With Captain Marvel

With the release of Captain Marvel on March 8, Disney is getting into the Captain Marvel spirit. Not only is the hashtag “#HigherFurtherFaster” being promoted to encourage others to go higher, further, and faster, but soon guests will be able to pose in front of walls at select Disney locations with the empowering hashtag.

In addition to meeting Captain Marvel herself on the Disney Cruise Line, Disney California Adventure, Disneyland Paris, and Shanghai Disney Resort, there will also be new offerings launching across Disney Parks, on shop Disney, and at Disney Store retail locations prior to the film’s premiere. As for merchandise, products have already started rolling out on shelves, so keep your eye out! Captain Marvel goodies will also appear at Disney Store locations in February.

4. Another Special Ticket Deal For SoCal Residents

Similar to the deal offered for Florida residents, those residing in Southern California should take advantage of the Southern California Resident Ticket Offer. The deal offers three days of fun, including one day of Magic Morning in Disneyland park. Starting Jan. 7 and through May 20, 2019, SoCal residents can select from the following ticket options:

  • 3-day, 1-park per day ticket for $179
  • 3-day Park Hopper ticket for $234

The tickets may be used on a consecutive three-day visit or three separate days throughout the travel period. The tickets also expire on May 23, 2019 and blockout dates of April 14 through April 22, 2019 apply.

5. Major V.I.Passholder Perks Announced For January

First, there is the Potion Purple Premiere Pop-Up Event being held on Jan. 10 from 5-7 p.m. in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom Park for Annual Passholders. If you attend (which you totally should), you’ll be among the first to purchase new potion purple merchandise, including spirit jerseys, “Vacation Mode” water bottle, Loungefly mini backpack and wallet, and a new women’s Mickey T-shirt. Purple-themed food and beverages will also be available for purchase. Yes, AP’s can apply their 20 percent merchandise discount for the purple potion products.

Furthermore, AP’s will get a 20 percent discount at the following Disney World restaurants for lunch and dinner from Jan. 6-31:

  • Biergarten Restaurant (Epcot)
  • Coral Reef Restaurant (Epcot)
  • The Hollywood Brown Derby (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)
  • Hollywood & Vine (Hollywood Studios)
  • Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen (Magic Kingdom)
  • Tiffins Restaurant (Disney’s Animal Kingdom)
  • Tony’s Town Square Restaurant (Magic Kingdom Park)
  • Ale & Compass Restaurant (Disney’s Yacht Club Resort)
  • Boatwright’s Dining Hall (Dinner Only; Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside)
  • Citricos (Dinner Only; Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa)
  • Disney’s Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show (Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort)
  • Flying Fish (Dinner Only; Disney’s BoardWalk Resort)
  • Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue (8:30 p.m. show only; Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort)
  • Jiko – The Cooking Place (Dinner Only; Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort)
  • Sebastian’s Bistro (Dinner Only; Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort)
  • The Wave… of American Flavors (Disney’s Contemporary Resort)
  • Whispering Canyon Café (Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort)

6. An Amazing Disney Cruise Deal

Did you know Disney is offering 50 percent off your Disney Cruise deposit if you book an eligible cruise by Feb. 15, 2019? The offer only applies to “four-night or longer cruises sailing June 22, 2019 through May 30, 2020.” All of the details for the limited-time offer are listed here.

7. A Great “Shopportunity” For Disneyland AP’s

On Jan. 7 from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., Disneyland Annual Passholders can take part in the Disneyland Resort AP Shopportunity and purchase new items from the “Mickey Through the Years,” “Celebrate Mickey,” and “Minnie Rocks the Dots” collections at World of Disney and the new Passholder Minnie Mouse PANDORA jewelry charm at The Disney Dress Shop.  And, yes, AP discounts apply!

8. Another WDW Deal, This Time For Resorts

There were a lot of deals announced this week, including Disney World’s Sun & Fun Room Offer. When you book starting today and through March 24, 2019 at select hotels for stays most nights April 28-Sept. 30, 2019, you can save up to 30 percent on rooms. 9. Meet Kevin From ‘Up’ At Animal Kingdom Very Soon

If you ever wanted to meet Kevin from Up, now’s your chance! Starting sometime next month, the beloved bird will be available for meet and greets at Animal Kingdom. Further details, like Kevin’s schedule, have yet to be announced.
