Every week I gather the latest news from Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort, and other Disney parks to help you keep up with all of the changes. Here is the most recent Disney news for the week of Feb. 4-Feb. 10, 2019:
1. Celebrate ‘The Lion King’ At DCA
This summer at Disney California Adventure, a brand new The Lion King celebration will debut for a limited time. Most details are scarce right now, but according to the Disney Parks Blog, the special event will include a traveling troupe of storytellers, who will tell the story of the beloved Disney film through story, song, and dance. There will even be colorful craft activities honoring Africa’s spirit.
2. Catch A Sneak Peek Of ‘Dumbo’
For a limited time starting in March, those visiting Disney World and Disneyland, in addition to those sailing on a Disney Cruise, will be able to watch a special preview of certain scenes from Disney’s live-action Dumbo prior to its release on March 29. The sneak peak will be presented at the Main Street Opera House in Disneyland park’s Town Square and at Walt Disney Presents in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
3. There’s A New Peter Pan Magic Shot
As you can see below, you can now take a Magic Shot with Peter Pan in front of both Magic Kingdom Park and Disneyland park!

4. Tangaroa Terrace Reopened At The Disneyland Hotel
If you haven’t heard, Disneyland Hotel’s Tangaroa Terrace has officially reopened. The tropical spot at the Disneyland Hotel has a brand new look and new food and beverage offerings! Based on the photos and descriptions over at Disney Parks Blog, you’ll definitely want to check out Tangaroa Terrace sooner rather than later.
5. Reusable Bags Arrive At Both WDW & Disneyland
You can purchase reusable bags at both Disney World and Disneyland parks. There are multiple bags to choose from that are themed to each resort and feature different characters. The bags, which are made from 80 percent recycled materials, also come in three different sizes.
At Disneyland, guests can choose from four bags: one for Disneyland park, one for DCA, one for Downtown Disney District and resort hotels, and the current World of Disney bag that was previously released. As for Disney World, there are a total of seven bags: a bag at each theme park, a bag for owned-and-operated shops at Disney Springs, a shared resort-inspired bag for hotels, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and other merchandise locations, and the already existing World of Disney bag.
The bags are super adorable, and better yet, you can use them over and over again!
6. A ‘Coco’-Inspired Show Is Coming To Epcot
Finally, this some very exciting news, especially for Coco fans! A Coco-inspired show coming to Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion starting March 6. The Mariachi Cobre musicians and a pair of Folklórico dancers will tell the story of Miguel and, of course, music from the Pixar film will be featured. Plus, Miguel will appear as a “whimsical, hand-crafted puppet”! It sounds beyond magical and like the perfect way to celebrate both the movie and culture of Mexico.
That’s it for Disney news from this past week. I’ll continue to collect park updates, so be sure to keep your eyes open for my weekly news post!
