Every week I gather the latest news from Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort, and other Disney parks to help you keep up with all of the changes. Here is the most recent Disney news for the week of March 11-March 17, 2019:

1. Special ‘Star Wars’: Galaxy’s Edge Panel

On April 13, there is a “Bringing Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to Life at Disney Parks” panel at the Star Wars Celebration Chicago Event. During this panel, new details and stories regarding the highly-anticipated land opening soon at both Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Aug. 29, 2019) and Disneyland park (May 31, 2019) will be revealed. According to Disney Parks Blog, “There might just be a few surprises during the session, too!” At this time, it’s unclear if the panel will be available to live stream. That said, there’s a good chance that those in attendance will be providing information in real-time via social media, so keep your eyes open!

2. Whispering Canyon Café’s New Menu

A brand new menu has debuted at Whispering Canyon Café at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. The menu includes a range of “all-you-care-to-enjoy” signature skillets available now for both lunch and dinner, like the Signature Lunch Skillet that comes with maple-chipotle BBQ slow-smoked pork ribs, barbecued pulled pork, and citrus-herb chicken. There is also a Traditional Dinner Skillet, The “Pig” Dinner Skillet, the Land and Sea Dinner Skillet, and the Vegan Dinner Skillet (maple-chipotle BBQ jackfruit, spicy vegan sausage, mustard-glazed beefless tips, and herb-brushed trick’n chick’n).

There are also “newly-themed cocktails,” like the Bourbon Cowboy. Better yet, starting March 26, a variety of breakfast skillets will also be available for purchase. Click here for full descriptions and photos of the new menu.

3. Jaleo’s Disney Springs Location Has An Opening Date

Jaleo by Chef José Andrés is officially open for dinner as of today, March 17, 2019. Lunch service for Jaleo is said to begin later this month. Located on Disney Springs’ West Side, the restaurants features an “extensive menu of tapas, the traditional small plates of Spain, as well as savory paellas, sangrias, and a selection of Spanish wines and sherries.” Adjacent to Jaleo’s entrance is also the first brick and mortar location of Pepe by José Andrés, the popular Spanish food truck. Pepe is officially open for both lunch and dinner as of March 17, 2019.

4. Get A Behind-The-Scenes Look At Rivers Of Light

Adventure by Disney’s Backstage Magic Tour has added a behind-the-scenes look at Rivers of Light. First and foremost, this particular tour is seven hours long and is a one-of-a-kind VIP experience offering a special look backstage to see how some of the magic is brought to life, like costuming and navigating the “utilidor” tunnels, the underground passageways beneath the theme park.

Starting June 1, 2019, the tour will include a special backstage look during the daytime at Rivers of Light and a new private lunch with a special menu at Tiffins Restaurant. These two new experiences at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will replace lunch at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and the visit to Textile Services, aka Disney World’s laundry facilities. If interested, book reservations by calling 407-939-8687 or contact a travel agent.
