Every week I gather the latest news from Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort, and other Disney parks to help you keep up with all of the changes. Here is the most recent Disney news for the week of May 27-June 2, 2019:

1. Galaxy’s Edge At Disneyland Is Officially Open

The biggest news this week is that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge officially opened at Disneyland Park. After much anticipation, guests (with reservations for the time being) are finally able to explore the Black Spire Outpost on the planet of Batuu. If you missed the dedication ceremony for the land, you can watch it below. A few special people showed up, as well.

2. Epcot Updates At D23 Expo In August 2019

There are so many changes coming to Epcot and even further updates about the park will be revealed at the 2019 D23 Expo held in Anaheim, California from Aug. 23-Aug. 25. The Disney Parks Blog also shared three of the changes that will be discussed in more detail at the expo. They include:

*The Park’s Core Will Be Reimagined: More information about “what’s coming to the core of the park on the opposite side of the Spaceship Earth” and details regarding the “new areas flanking the iconic attraction” will be discussed.

*New Pavilion Icons: Each pavilion (The Land, The Seas with Nemo & Friends, and Imagination!) has a specific icon associated with it. With all of the updates coming to the park, including the previously announced play-themed pavilion, there will be “new icons to match.”

*Learn About Epcot’s Future: Guests will learn about “experiences that are uniquely Epcot – for example, the updated films coming to Future World and World Showcase, as well as new dining experiences being added to the menu of ‘the foodie park.'” Furthermore, architects are working hard to “preserve all the elements that make this park so special while also evolving it to be more Disney, more family, more relevant and more timeless.”

3. Allow Me To Address *That* Epcot Rumor

WDW News Today reported this week that both The Land and The Seas pavilions will be completely demolished between 2024 and 2026. Understandably, fans became upset, but it’s important to remember that nothing has officially been confirmed by Disney. Right now, it’s only a rumor. That said, the official Walt Disney World Today Twitter account has been responding to concerned individuals  with the following statement:

“We appreciate your enthusiasm for Epcot, and we do have big plans. While the Park does have new pavilions joining, The Land and The Seas with Nemo & Friends are planned to be with us into the future.”

4. PhotoPass Service At WDW Water Parks

Now through Labor Day 2019, Disney PhotoPass Service photographers are capturing guests experiences (at select locations and Character Experiences) at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park. PhotoPass will also be available for character photos during Disney H2O Glow Nights at Typhoon Lagoon.

5. Foodie Guide For H2O Glow Nights

Speaking of H2O Glow Nights, there is a foodie guide available and, wow, the treats and beverages look good!

6. The Disney Fantasy Adds New Entertainment

If you’re going on Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Fantasy anytime soon, there is new entertainment! A reimagined version of Disney Aladdin — A Musical Spectacular is now showing. The show includes an updated script and new choreography, music, puppetry, costumes, and so much more. Plus, Frozen, A Musical Spectacular will make its debut in the Walt Disney Theatre on the Disney Fantasy beginning Oct. 26, 2019. If that isn’t exciting enough,  Mickey and Minnie’s Surprise Party at Sea, a “high-energy afternoon deck party” will debut at the beginning of June and will continue through all  Caribbean and Bahamian sailings through the end of August.  The deck party, which includes costumes, a special song, and themed-food, is the perfect way to celebrate Mickey’s 90th.

7. Details About New Coronado Springs Restaurants

As previously announced, Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is opening this July. The debut also includes the opening of new dining spots, which are also all set to open in July. In addition to Toledo — Tapas, Steak & Seafood, there are three new locations, including:

  1. Three Bridges Bar & Grill: The lake-view table-service dining experience offers “Spanish-American ambience and cuisine.”
  2. Dahlia Lounge: The rooftop lounge is next to Toledo — Tapas, Steak & Seafood and offers unique cocktails and dishes inspired by “Spanish surrealism.”
  3. Barcelona Lounge: In the lower lobby of the tower, this Barcelona, Spain-themed lounge is a “day-to-night espresso bar and Spanish-style Gin Tonic hub.”

8. More Details For Food & Wine

This year’s Epcot International Food & Wine Festival begins Aug. 29 and runs through Nov. 23, and more details were announced for the festival.

First, Top Chef’s Fabio Viviani (Sept. 15), cookbook author Aarti Sequeira (Nov. 17), and celebrity chef and Neil Patrick Harris’ husband, David Burtka (Oct 13.), will all make their festival debuts. The Sunday Brunch with the Chef experience is returning with chefs Jamie Deen (Sept. 1), Carla Hall (Sept. 8), Richard Blais (Sept. 22), Robert Irvine (Sept. 29), and Graham Elliot (Nov. 10).  More acts were added to the Eat to the Beat Concert Series, including newcomer India (Oct. 5 and 6),  Taylor Dayne (Oct. 3 and 4), and Kenny G (Oct. 14 and 15.) If that isn’t enough, there are even more experiences to try, including:

*Candy Sushi:  The experience is offered twice daily at Sunshine Seasons in The Land. Families are paired with a Disney chef to roll sweet sushi treats. You can make reservations at TasteEpcot.com. It costs $10 for all guests.

*The Chocolate Experience: At the Harvest Theater entrance in The Land, Ghirardelli will create chocolate sundae treats available for purchase at Sunshine Seasons. Better yet, you’ll learn how chocolate gets from “the bean to the bar” and even sample chocolates.

That’s it for Disney news from this past week. I’ll continue to collect park updates, so be sure to keep your eyes open for my weekly news post!
