‘Star Wars’: Galaxy’s Edge Advanced Reservations & Other Disney News This Week

Every week I gather the latest news from Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort, and other Disney parks to help you keep up with all of the changes. Here is the most recent Disney news for the week of Aug. 5-11, 2019:

1. Advanced Reservations For WDW’s Galaxy’s Edge

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge advanced reservations for select experiences are now available starting Aug. 29 when the land opens at Hollywood Studios. I’m not sure if there are any reservation slots still open, but it never hurts to try or keep on refreshing that page to see if you can score one. Below are the locations and links:

2. More Mobile Order Spots For WDW & Disneyland

There are even more places in Walt Disney World and Disneyland that offer Mobile Order.

WDW:

  • Contempo Cafe: Contemporary
  • End Zone Food Court: All-Star Sports
  • Everything POP Shopping & Dining: Pop Century
  • Intermission Food Court: All-Star Music
  • The Mara: Animal Kingdom Lodge
  • World Premier Food Court: All-Star Movies

Disneyland & DCA: In addition to Mint Julep Bar and Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats, Schmoozies!, Rita’s Baja Blenders, Pacific Wharf Distribution Co., and Troubadour Tavern now offer Mobile Ordering.

3. NBA Experience Live Stream

You can live stream NBA Experience’s grand opening ceremony in Disney Springs on Aug. 12 at 9:25 a.m. EST on the Disney Parks Blog. Note: The new experience will not open until 5 p.m. to the public on Aug. 12 until after the grand opening celebration concludes.

4. So Many New Treats & Dining Coming 

Check out all of the new treats coming to both WDW and Disneyland!

Disney Springs —>

Beatrix: The West Side spot is described as “your neighborhood restaurant, coffeehouse and grab-and-go market featuring healthy food options including vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan along with fresh-squeezed juice cocktails.” There will also be a bakery and full-service bar with all-American beer and wine.

Ample Hills Creamery: In addition to the BoardWalk, a new location is opening up on the West Side.

Edible Cookie Dough: A new food truck called Cookie Dough and Everything Sweet offering a variety of edible cookie dough will open later in August. You’ll be able to find it near the other food trucks across from Candy Cauldron on the West Side.

Sunshine Churros: The beloved churro place in Downtown Disney is coming Disney Springs’ Marketplace and the West Side. You can choose from all kinds of unique flavors.

Disneyland —>

Haunted Mansion 50th Treats: In celebration of Disneyland’s 50th anniversary of the Haunted Mansion, you can now purchase all kinds of goodies. Click here for descriptions and photos.

5. Reserve Disney Cruise Line Gifts & Décor

You can now reserve Disney Cruise Line gifts and décor for special occasions prior to your arrival and have them delivered to your stateroom. Click here to make reservations.

6. A Galaxy’s Edge Cookbook Is Being Released

A new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge cookbook will hit shelves in November 2019.

7. Haunted Mansion 50th Play Disney Parks Achievements

There are now special Play Disney Parks app achievements for Haunted Mansion’s 50th anniversary during select times throughout August at Disneyland. If you collect all three achievements, you’ll be issued a fourth 50th Haunted Mansion achievement.

  • Now-Aug. 10: Sarah “Sally” Slater, the woman on the tightrope in the portrait chamber
  • Aug. 11-18: Madame Leota
  • Aug. 19-24: Haunted Mansion Watchman and his dog

8. First Look At New ‘MNSSHP’ Fireworks Show

A new fireworks show called Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular is coming to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year. You can watch a sneak peek below.

9. Galaxy’s Edge Special Events At Hollywood Studios

In celebration of Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios, here are some events guests can attend at Launch Bay Cargo:

-Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. — Meet Ashley Eckstein from Her Universe and the voice of Ahsoka Tano. She’ll be showcasing her new dress featuring Darth Vader.  Wristbands will be required with a purchase of a Her Universe or Ahsoka Tano item.

-Aug. 18 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. — Meet artists Craig Fraser, Kevin-John, William Silvers, and Charles Wissig with their new Star Wars art pieces. You must purchase a product before having it signed.

-Aug. 28 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. — Meet several authors and illustrators, including Ethan Sacks and Will Sliney (Galaxy’s Edge comic book series), Delilah S. Dawson (Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge: Black Spire), and Zoraida Córdova (Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge: A Crash of Fate). You must purchase a product before having it signed.

10. Disneyland Celebrates Marvel’s 80th Anniversary

Disney California Adventure is celebrating 80 years of Marvel in all kinds of fun ways.

*Disneyland Annual Passholders can enjoy an extra hour at Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! after the park closes from Aug. 25-31. They can take home a special lithograph — one per passholder while supplies last and blockout dates apply.

*Specialty food and beverages from Aug. 23-Sept. 2:
-Fanta Orange Freeze with Blue Cream at Studio Catering Co.
-Be Brave, Be Blue cocktail, with Vodka and Blue Raspberry Lemonade and Groot-shaped bread at Hollywood Lounge.
-Super Hero-inspired, cinnamon-sugar dusted Funnel Cake Fries with Maple Glaze, Crumbled Bacon and Chocolate Cookie Crumbles at Award Wieners.

*Starting Aug. 9 go to The Collectors Warehouse for commemorative tees and headwear.

*From Aug. 9-Sept. 2 watch out for Mickey and friends dressed up as Super Heroes.

*Pose in front of an “Avengers Assemble!” oversized comic book for an epic photo-op from Aug. 9-Sept. 2.

* Draw Super Heroes at the Animation Academy during select times on Aug. 10, 17, 24, 30, 31, and Sept. 1.

*On the actual 80th anniversary on Aug. 31, guests can get a commemorative button upon park entry.
